HOME      Compliments and Gratitude After the 40th

Tom, Norris and Jill,

Wow—thank you guys so much for all you did in getting the reunion done.  I know it was a huge job and took many, many hours!

I would still like to put a DVD together if you think people would like it.  If so, could someone broadcast an email to everyone to send me their pictures so I can include them all.  Would love pix from Friday and Saturday at the American Inn also.  And from the WJ tour if anyone took any. Just let people know that I will be putting a memory DVD together for anyone who wants one for just the cost of the DVD and the mailing.

Pictures can be sent to me either on a disc or by email (if the file is not too large).

 Thanks again,   Barbara Doane

Dear Tom
I would like to express my appreciation for making it possible for me and Mrs. Hall to attend the class of 1966 reunion.
It was a pleasure to meet you.  It was a wonderful evening for both of us.
I know you worked very hard to make all the arrangements and I want to thank you for this great endeavor.  The web site you created was very informative and well done.
Our red roses were a delight to both of us. We can't thank you enough for all you have done for us at this stage of our life.  It was a wonderful evening.
Take care,

Subject: Fantastic job!

Thank you so much for all your efforts, Hillery! It was lovely to meet your wife and fun to see another "year book" from Tachi! I think everyone had a marvelous time with several remarking that we all clearly had a good, solid educational foundation that enabled us to fare pretty well overall, whether we were engaged in the academic pursuit at the time or not!

Should you find the funds short, I would be happy to make a donation to help cover any outstanding cost, if any.

Thank you again for a superb job!

Sincerely,

Sally (Burtner) Schofield, Georgetown University, Telephone: 202-687-8099

Tom-

It was really great to see you. You done good. Let me know if there is anything I can do, or if there are any loose ends. Also let me know if there were any financial short falls that I might help offset.

Going forward let's keep your efforts going at a less frantic pace than your effort over the last 90 days.

I understand there have been several ideas floated about evolving the website, continuing the classmate search, and even developing local and regional get togethers more often than every 20 years. Please keep me in the loop.

Again great job.  Earl

Pat....Thanks so much for the very generous contribution to the expenses that I incurred.   Also thanks for the kind words.  It was truly a BLAST. Glad you won the basket that I put ALL of my raffle tickets in the box for.

We are already getting leads on where to find  folks that were still missing.  Dennis Watts, Sherry Rehmer and Craig McKee

Who is Scotty?  Arlene?

Norris:

I have no idea where you found to the time!   Your work on the reunion committee was invaluable and irreplaceable.  Thank you SO much for all you did!

 Sincerely,  Greg Pryor

.............................

Yes, Arlene Scott was known as Scotty.  My older brother went to the Prom with her.  If my memory serves me correctly (Scotty - sorry I missed dinner with you and Cindy Langley Friday night), being the good social worker that she was called the Police on (my soon to be first husband and me) when we 'escaped' from the looney bin.  An email from Cindy was in my SPAM email and could not be retrieved from laptop in MD just before the reunion.  Hopefully you'll get her contact info soon.  Along with Mike Wilson and me, she was a trouble maker in Mrs. Wright's Spanish class.

Another dear, dear friend was Sherry Needle.  Her father died at the young age and they moved from the Kensington neighborhood.  That's all I was able to find out.  The work that you all are doing is so important and means so very much to so many classmates.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  love pat

...........................................

Good Job Team,
What Fun!!!  You all did a fine job!!!  Turns out Mrs. Wright's son lives in our Richmond neighborhood and she wants to visit us when they are next in Richmond!!!  What a treat!  And, unbeknowest to me Mrs. Hall's daughter and a childhood neighbor friend of mine and '66 classmate, Marilyn Botkiss had been friends since the first grade!  Mrs. Wright has Michael Wilson's 'button' and she will call him to 'bless' their apartment.  We came away winning the Hollywood basket that Scotty put together!  My niece and nephew had a great time with it.  I did not see Scotty to talk to her, only once from afar and then she vanished.  We have more 'history' than could have been covered that evening anyway; and I'll surely send her a nice thank you!

No sacrifice, only pleasure,

Tom and Norris,

You guys are the best! For making this happen! What a yoeman's job to locate so many and allow all of us a peak into the history of each of us. Hopefully, this will continue and someone will feel inspired to carry on your great work.....

As I head back to the "Left Coast" today, I will carry with me absolutely wonderful memories. What is so special is that 40 years later...we are all on a level playing field. It's not who dated whom, or who had what, but that we ALL have stories of life to tell that everyone wants to hear! And, hopefully, we will continue to stay connected.

THANK YOU!!!!!  All the Best and if you ever venture west, let those of us in LA LA LAND return the favor of entertaining you!

Regards,   Arlene Scott O'Donnell

I miss you already! You, Norris, and Jill (& others) did such a good job! Thanks for all that you did.
It was so good seeing you.  You are such a doll!  Your wife is a very lucky woman and you can tell her I said so!  I'm going to keep in touch with you, if you don't mind, and can't wait to work with you again on our 45th reunion!

Hope you had a good trip home, Tom! It's going to really feel strange not getting numerous emails from you and Norris!!!!
 Patty

Subject: MANY THANKS!

Hi Norris,

Gib and I would like to say 'Thank You' for a wonderful reunion evening! It was evident that much thought, time and effort went into all of the planning, not to mention the implementation of the entire weekend. The bios were great to review and I have saved them all. I know there were many involved - Tom, Jill, Jane, Trisha and others whom I cannot recall but I hope you will send this message along to them.

Those who missed the evening, missed a great event! I'm sorry our paths did not cross on Saturday evening so we could thank you personally, it was my plan but I just did not see you. You were probably flying around and just did not stay still long enough for anyone to catch you! I hope you're resting this week!

Thanks again, you're efforts were much appreciated,

Judy (Shumaker) and Gib Devey

Hi Norris,
Maybe the reunion will go down in history as Catch 66, honoring Jim Conroy's role in the preparation of it!(just kiddin')
Glad it's over, Norris?  It simply had to turn out great - what else is to be expected from  Walter Johnson graduates ! Great bunch.
Saw the first pics, but it was hard to match them with the yearbook. Please keep me updated, I've enjoyed every single bio so far.
Greetings to all of you !

Once again, thanks for the reunion. Without all the people that you mentioned and wrote about in this last e-mail, the reunion NEVER would have happened. I can't tell you how many times I contacted WJ to give them my address and phone number to be contacted (IN CASE) there was ever another reunion. I'm so glad that it Happened!

Although it was crowded (which was a good thing--good turnout) it was quite a unique experience and happened before the year 2007 which would have been the WJ 41st reunion! Thank you again to all the BEHIND THE SCENES people who worked on getting as many of us together as good possible be found and had time to attend.

Thanks a MILLION! It was truly a NIGHT TO REMEMBER! Karen (Nordenson) Seals

................................

Genuine, authentic and HEART-FELT THANKS to each and every one of you! It was fabulous and memorable and I am so glad that I was there! Looking forward to the next time.....and willing to help! Sandy Swisher (Pheiffer)

..............................

I wanted to take a moment to thank you especially for all of the hard, tedious work you did getting this wonderful reunion together.  Please pass my thanks on to Norris and Jill also.  It was as much fun as I have had in years.  Sunday afternoon as I was driving home, I thought why can't we keep this going.  I wish I had more time to seek out more classmates on Saturday night.  I hope that all of your efforts putting all of the contact data together will create opportunities for some of us to get together more often than every 5 years.  If you visit the area please let me know - the beer is on me.

Thanks again, Nat Sisco

Hi Tommy,
I want to let you how how much I enjoyed the reunion. I really appreciate all the work you and the others put forth to make it happen. What a great success!

Please let me know your address and Brenda's. We are updating our Christmas card list.

How is my Sigma Kappa big sister Betsy doing?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and say "hi" to Becky for me.

Hi Tom -

I have received the reunion DVD, but have not yet made the time to sit down and watch it.  I will, though - promise!  And thanks so much for all the work you have put into the reunion and the DVD.  Many people with whom I spoke at the reunion had never come to a reunion and, like me, did not consider themselves popular when they were in high school and came not knowing if they'd know anyone there.  But we were all so glad we came - it was wonderful to reconnect with classmates and meet a lot of new people!

Tom,
I enjoyed helping out , look forward to the 50th reunion, and yes a lot of folks wondered if they would know anybody and had a fabulous time.

GREAT DVD! I'll treasure it.

Simply put, this was one of the best weekends of my life so far. I loved seeing my old friends and people I didn't even know so well who turned out to have fascinating life tales.

I thought the pre-event hospitality room, the event, the post-event hospitality room, and the next day at the old high school, brought me full circle, back to the teenage years that I both loved and hated, and this time I loved the whole thing. Honestly, it was sort of healing and life-enhancing for me. Thanks to all.

Thanks for the long hours of work on the DVD photos, they will allow me to bring back the fond memories at will.

Best,
Jim Conroy.....emailed 4/2/07

Tom - Just to let you know I got the DVD, thank you very much, it works and I like it (but, there sure are a lot of old farts in the Class of '66!!!)   Thanks for all of your time and effort to put it together and get it to everyone.

Tom,

Yes, I finally looked at the DVD.  (Life has been busy!  Sorry it took me so long!)  It is really good and the music ties in perfectly.

After watching and listening to my husband agonize in putting together a DVD of my daughter's wedding (he spent WEEKS and endless hours on it last summer), I can appreciate all of the TLC that went into this production!  (And having to research and label the names was an extra challenge.)

The memorials at the end were very touching to me!  (I got very teary...)  It would be interesting to know who passed away in Vietnam or other service related battles.  I know that would be impossible...

Thanks for a job well done...on the DVD and the whole reunion.  What an undertaking and you did it!!!

Tom, I love the DVD. I just watched it for the first time and was mesmerized. What a weekend it was and how great it is to have this DVD to bring it back. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on the reunion and the DVD.

It was also good to remind us of the reunion in 2011. I will arrange my schedule to be there.

The DVD would not have been complete without the "in memoriam" section. This was handled with respect and affection.

Take care, and see you soon. Bob Featherstone   emailed 4/4/07

Message from Gene Russell   APRIL 2010:

Hi Tom,
Yes that is my correct email. I was sorry to hear about Linda. She was in some of my classes. I thought she was beautiful. I actually had a crush on her. We traveled in different circles. Well I didn't travel in much of a circle I was pretty much a loner. I was the guy that was always positioned leaning against the wall at the school bank watching everybody go by. A number of years ago I took my daughter to a soccer game near Rockville and took her by WJ. It was a Saturday. One of the custodians was there and said we could go in. I showed her around and actually had the custodian take a picture of her and I standing together leaning against the wall of the school bank. I was surprised to see that they are now the Wildcats. But the did keep the brass plaque that was on the floor. It now has their Wildcat logo in brass next to it.
My wife was an ICU/CCU nurse until she was hurt on the job a couple of years ago. I asked her about the condition that Linda had. She knew it right away and we Googled it. My heart and prayers went out to her family. It must of torn them apart watching her go through that.
Actually I didn't make the reunion because she caught something from one of her patients she took care of and brought it home and I caught it. We had planned to go but wern't totally over what we had and I didn't want to take a chance of possibly giving it to anyone. It was a wonderful thing you did organizing it. I was able to make contact with people I grew up with as a little kid and hadn't talked to or seen in decades.
I was thinking about checking out the business your in. I was laid off in Dec. Actually my last paid day there was Dec. 25th. Nice ...right! I was an ad designer for 9 years with The Baltimore Sun newspaper and almost 20 years for the publishing company in Columbia MD, that publishes 13 weekly newspapers, that The Sun bought when the owner retired. I'd really like to stay working as a Advertising/Graphic Designer. 95% of the job openings are for web designers. I did a couple of online animation spec ads in photoshop while there but The Sun had their own department that handled online services. Well Tom it's almost 1am. I think I'll turn in.
Thanks for the kind birthday wishes. Take care Tom,
Gene
